David Evans, principal of Meritage Healthcare Strategies has over 20 years experience in the development and management of hospital affiliated and corporate health and fitness centers. Prior to founding Meritage, he served for a combined sixteen years as the Managing Director of the Baptist Hospital Fitness Center (Nashville) and Baylor-Tom Landry Center (Dallas), hospital-based sports medicine, fitness and aquatic centers. In these roles, he was responsible for the development, start-up and ongoing management of the operational procedures, staffing, programs and services, quality control, customer satisfaction, and financial performance of the center. Additionally, he served as a research associate for the nationally renowned Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas and was the Director of Preventive Health Services for Baylor Health Care System. He has consulted with over forty hospitals regarding feasibility, development and operations of medically integrated fitness and wellness centers.

Judy Sewing, principal of Meritage Healthcare Strategies, has over 25 years experience in financial and management consulting and project feasibility analysis, including auditing and consulting experience with two of the top international accounting firms. Prior to joining Meritage, she directed the medical fitness consulting division of The Benfield Group, a St. Louis, Missouri based consulting firm with a long track record of success in concept development, project feasibility and business planning for medical fitness centers. She has consulted with over 200 hospitals and health systems that have considered wellness center development. More than 50 centers have been built and are currently operating—several have achieved award-winning results. Under her leadership, the firm was awarded the Medical Fitness Association’s Founders Award for leadership in the medical fitness industry.

Bonnie Patrick Mattalian, President of the Club and Spa Synergy Group, has 23 years of experience in clubs and spas. She is a recipient of the Club Industry/Life Fitness Distinguished Businesswoman’s Award. Her experience includes hands-on operational start-ups and turnarounds of more than 40 facilities, with an emphasis on strategic and fiscal responsibility, systems implementation, performance improvement, member experience, and staff development. She previously acted in a national capacity for The Fitness Company, overseeing training and education for General Managers and front line staff in their facilities in 13 states. She was responsible for the development of the Spa Division, and was project manager for the start up and development of the Medical Wellness Division. Bonnie received acclaim for two NOVA 7 finalist awards for club design and integrated clinical exercise programming as Project Manager for FitCare LifeCenter by Doylestown Hospital.

Steve Dietz is the director of Health First Pro-Health & Fitness Centers. Steve holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and a Masters of Health Science Education from the University of Florida. He is a past president of the Florida Association of Hospital Health and Fitness Programs, a division of Florida Hospital Association, and is the past chairman of FHA’s Wellness Task Force. Upon joining Health First, he took a 6-year loss center to a profit center with a capped membership in one year. He led development efforts for a new 37,400 SF replacement facility that opened in 1992 and capped membership one year later, exceeding the year 10 budget projections. He has since opened 3 additional facilities, ranging in size from 16,000 to 68,000 SF. In 2003, Steve received the Distinguished Service Award from the Medical Fitness Association. Pro Health serves a total of 38,000 members.
