Jean Hitchcock is corporate vice president, marketing and communications at Scripps Health, San Diego, CA.
Jean oversees the marketing, public and media relations programs, internal communications, the Scripps intranet and internet site, call center and creative services areas. Jean joined Scripps in 2004. Prior to coming to Scripps, Jean was a principal with Rynne Marketing Group, a consulting firm that provided marketing and communications to clients. In her role, Jean assisted her healthcare clients in marketing, strategy, public and media relations and advertising campaigns. Her clients included academic medical centers, large multi-state health systems, and community hospitals and physician groups. Jean earned her healthcare stripes at Spectrum Health, the largest healthcare provider in western Michigan and OhioHealth the largest healthcare system in Ohio. At both locations, Jean oversaw the marketing and communications functions and worked closely with senior leadership, human resources and development as a strategic partner. Jean also serves on the board of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development of the American Hospital Association.
Kathy Dean is vice president at Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon . Kathy has nearly 25 years experience in marketing and public relations, most gathered in the healthcare arena. Today, Kathy leads marketing communications for Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, where she oversees strategic marketing, public relations, web strategies and referring provider relations. OHSU is the only academic medical center in the state. Prior to joining OHSU in 2007, Kathy served as vice president for marketing communications for Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pennsylvania. Kathy holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics from Northern Arizona University and earned a master’s degree in strategic communications and leadership from Seton Hall University. She is an active member of SHSMD and currently chair of the products and business development team.
Susan Alcorn is chief communications officer at Geisinger Health System in Danville, PA. Susan has more than 30 years experience in healthcare marketing communications, working in a variety of settings ranging from rural community hospitals to major tertiary and quatermary referral centers. In her current role at Geisinger, she is responsible for all activities related to reputation management: traditional and new media marketing; local and national media relations, employee and community relations, referring physician relations and issues and crisis management. She is a past president of the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development.
