Centennial implemented PII (Personal Identification Information) security before banner student module went live back to 2006, to ensure general module data beyond to employees could only be accessed by HR & Payroll users. At that time, PII was still parts of Canadian Localization. After upgraded to Banner 7, Fine Grained Access Control became Banner baseline. Based on other business requirements, we started building VBS (Value Based Security) in different modules. Fine Grained Access Control, this row level security really helps us to protect the sensitive data. In this session, we will share our experience of using the Fine Grained Access Control, as well as how to setup PII, data masking and VBS in banner.
