The Reality of Process Revitalization (1923)
Track: Human Capital Management

Educatsional Expertise   Focus: Banner Human Resources
Program Code: 1923
LEAD PRESENTER / PANEL ORGANIZER / BOF LEADER :
Louise Smith, Associate Director, Business Process and Integration Office, Dalhousie University
Description
To develop outstanding Human Resources is the strategic focus for Dalhousie University that is driving a multi-phased HR Revitalization initiative. We have worked with the SunGard Higher Education Professional Services to define our vision and a road map to achieve that vision through process improvements and performance management.
The first step in this exciting journey was to re-implement the Banner Faculty Administration module (sure we implemented it 10 years ago but who knew a few fields would not satisfy the ever expanding demands on the business of Human Resource management matures?). We needed to build a solid record base to sustain the automation and meet the goals of our future state. This presentation will provide an overview of our revitalization strategy and then a dive into the excitement of the first project:
- No pressure, but this project has to be a full out winner or the whole revitalization dream will fizzle
- Re-implement a module and switch ownership from payroll to Academic Staff Relations
- What do you mean Banner can be more efficient than our card system?

As the Project Manager, I tap into my passion for process improvement and actually live my mantra clear the kludge!
