LEAD PRESENTER / PANEL ORGANIZER / BOF LEADER :

Description
Over the past two years, Bucknell University has transformed its end-to-end SunGard production environment (Banner, Luminis, BEIS, Jobsub. We have installed fail-over capability into each component of the SunGard infrastructure. We have taken a one-dimensional installation into a multi-dimensional array of servers to provide more security and dependability. Availability is significantly increased for planned and unplanned downtimes. A variety of technologies have opened the way for us to do this quickly while minimizing costs.

This session will reveal the technologies we used (Virtual Machines, DataGuard, DNS switching, Load Balancing) and the current infrastructure leading to this success. A current fail-over plan will be used to demonstrate how we increased disk space in the primary production environment while operating in the "failed-over" state.
