Testing: Basics and Modern Methods

The foundations of modern testing are still rooted in basic statistics. In this session you will first learn:

• the basics of A/B testing - power, confidence levels, effect sizes, and sample sizes
• how to conduct a basic A/B test using Google Website Optimizer

With the basics covered, you will then learn the newer approaches that have already yielded significant and reliable benefits. Specifically:

• using Google Website Optimizer as an example, how to design and evaluate the results from a multivariate test
• how to optimize targeted content for different audience groups based on: list/traffic source, new vs. repeat customer/visitors, demographics, time/day, location, or even online behavior.
