STC's Technical Communication Summit: Questions & Answers

Answers to Key Questions

The strength of our educational program directly comes from the proposals we receive. To facilitate the best chance of acceptance, please note the following before submitting your proposal:

What must be included with a proposal?

Review the Proposal Checklist before submitting your proposal.

How do I submit a proposal?

Only through our online system. We cannot accept proposals in other ways.

How many proposals may I submit?

As many as you like. But please note that (a) you must separately submit each proposal and (b) presenters may only appear on a total of two technical program sessions.

When are proposals due?

10:00 AM (EDT), Monday, October, 4, 2010.

If I have spoken at previous annual STC conferences, do I need to submit speaker references?

If you have presented within the past 4 years, you do not need to provide references. Your speaking evaluations from the past conference(s) will be reviewed. However, be sure to note your speaking experience in your proposal.

How are proposals reviewed?

Committee reviewers and the track manager for your proposal's track will evaluate your proposal.

When will the Conference Advisory Committee communicate its decisions?

Early November, 2010.

How can I change a proposal already submitted?

Until the deadline, you may update a proposal by doing the following:

  1. Log back into the proposal system.
  2. Select the corresponding proposal ID from the login table that appears when you return to our online proposal system. (Note that the system assigns each proposal a unique ID.)
  3. Click on the "Edit" button.
  4. Begin editing.
  5. When you complete editing the proposal, follow the prompts to submit it again.
