Proposal Checklist
Before starting your proposal, review the following:
Determine which conference track best suits your proposal. To help categorize proposals, each must be submitted to a specific track.

- Managing People, Projects, and Business
- Writing and Editing
- Design, Architecture, and Publishing
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Determine which session format best suits your proposal. All conference sessions must be designed for one of the following formats.

Prepare a detailed proposal, according to the guidelines. Although the exact details vary by type of proposal, they include:
- General session information:
- Title (no more than 8 words), which clearly identifies your proposal content.
- Brief description (no more than 50 words), which will be used in the final program if your proposal is accepted.
- Detailed description (no more than 150 words), which clarifies the content of your proposal.
- Key learning objectives (3 to 5 bullet points).
- Intended audience.
- Audience skill level (choose one of these: Getting Started, Advanced, All).
- Presentation length (all presentations except Progression will be 60 minutes).
- List of sources cited
- Bio for each speaker, specifically stating how that speaker is qualified to address the topic of the proposal.
- Speaker references. If you have presented at an STC Annual Conference in the past 4 years, you do not need to submit speaker references.
- Detailed requirements for the type of proposal, such as:
- Summary of the Case Study for a case study format
- Session plan and descriptions of handouts and visuals for panel discussions, demonstrations, and workshop

Identify all proposed speakers. For each presenter, including yourself, please let us know the following information:
- Contact information, including name, employer, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address.
- Whether the speaker is an STC member.
- Whether the presenters have spoken before at an STC annual conference or have other presentation experience or qualifications.

Indicate who will moderate the presentation.
- The moderator ensures that sessions with multiple presenters proceed smoothly and that all presenters have sufficient time to speak.
- If you are willing to serve as the moderator for a group session you may be assigned to, please select "yes."
- If you are the only speaker in your session, you are also considered to be the moderator.

Specify audiovisual requirements.
- LCD projector, Screen, Wired Microphone(s) and laptop will be provided.
- As a rule, internet access will not be provided. However, special cases will be considered. Additional justification will be necessary.
- Other audiovisual equipment needed such as a connection to house sound, DVD.

Upload supporting materials.
Please note that your proposal will not be reviewed without complete supporting materials.

Indicate if you are you planning to submit a paper to the conference Proceedings. All are welcome to submit a paper but Case Studies and Research Reports are required to.
Please contact the Track Managers if you have any questions about submitting a paper to the conference Proceedings.
All presenters: you will also be required to provide handout materials for posting on the Conference Materials Web site. All presenters will be required to sign a speaker agreement and MUST complete requirements as agreed upon. Speakers who do not meet the agreed upon requirements are subject to removal from the program. Requirement are, but not limited to: granting of license to STC, posting of session materials, submission to the proceedings, provision of presentation slides, registering in a timely manner. Speakers MUST read the agreement carefully as it WILL be enforced.
For scheduling purposes speakers must make themselves available all three days of the conference. Requests for a specific day will not be accepted.
